Wanderers Boys Achieve Goal in UK

Well we have achieved our goal and the reason for going to the UK. Both the boys have been taken on by Torquay United to join their youth development squad. This a great reward for the hard work they have put in over the last 4 weeks. Not only in their training and matches they played in but also the way they have conducted themselves at each club we visited. Both boys were a credit to their Club Hamilton Wanderers.

All coaches they trained with gave complimentary feedback on the standard they played and were surprised how they coped with the physical side of the English game.

We started at Paul Seamans academy in Mytchett. This was a perfect way to get the boys acclimatised to the UK. They got the chance to play game against Alton Town. We then moved on for a week’s trial Torquay. End of the week they played for the Youth team in a friendly, both boys did very well and impressed the coach, James scored the final goal with the Youth team running out 4 – 1 winners.

Then on to Wolves. Boys were blown away with the 50 million pounds facilities. Every one made us very welcome and the boys fitted in really well. They enjoyed playing on perfect surfaces. They trialled really well and were given a game on the Saturday in a friendly against Crewe Alexander. The feedback from the coaches was really positive and they were impressed with the boys and how they fitted in so well in just a few days. At this time couldn’t offer the boys anything, they had boys there who had been on trial over 6 weeks. So a lot to ask in just 4 days.

Call from Torquay inviting us back and an offer to join their Youth development Squad. Watching the boys over the last 4 weeks, at no time were they out of their depth, they were always comfortable in training and the matches they played in. I believe this shows that Wanderers has it right, and our standards are very high. The development path and coaching are the reason how these two boys achieved their goal in the UK.
