A bit more about us...

Hamilton Wanderers is an amateur football club, one of Hamilton's oldest, and continues to be proud of its foundations which began in 1913. We are based at Porritt Stadium, Crosby Road, Hamilton. We have strong community ties and are a family based club with a number of families now sporting three generations of currently active members.

Hamilton Wanderers provides a pathway for players, from junior teams, through to youth teams and then on to senior levels. Many top level footballers have come through this pathway, including All Whites Chris Wood, Marco Rojas and Logan Rogerson, all of whom have developed as youth players with the club.

Our senior premier teams compete in both the ISPS Handa National Premiership (over the summer period) and the Lotto NRFL Premier League (over the winter season). We have enjoyed consistent good finishes in the latter and are developing our squad for the former after our inaugural year. This league is the top level one in New Zealand and also features televised games. Ricki Herbert, former All Whites coach and recipient of the prestigious Halberg Coach of the Year has been appointed as our National League coach beginning from the 2017-2018 season.

A meteoric rise has sent the Wanderers ladies first team to the upper echelons of the sport over the past few seasons. The team rocketed from Waikato Division two to Division one, then to Northern Premier League status on the back of two successive championship wins. They are now also poised to join the National Women's league when it commences.

A training venue for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015, Porritt Stadium was upgraded with a best-in-class grass pitch and small grandstands installed. There are medium/long term plans to further improve facilities at Porritt with new clubrooms and more changing rooms to be added.

We also have other senior men's and women's teams in various Waikato leagues from A division to D division. The youth club starts with our under 13 boys and under 14 girls and leads up to our under 17 boys. The junior club continues to go from strength to strength. The last few years have seen a growth in numbers and teams competing across all grades.

We encourage participation and support from all. If you wish to become part of the Wanderers story, we would love to hear from you. This website provides you with more information about Hamilton Wanderers and the junior club, but if you have any queries, please contact us.
