A bit more about us…
Hamilton Wanderers is an amateur football club, one of Hamilton’s oldest, and continues to be proud of its foundations which began in 1913. We are based at Porritt Stadium, Crosby Road, Hamilton. We have strong community ties and are a family based club with a number of families now sporting three generations of currently active members.
Hamilton Wanderers provides a pathway for players, from junior teams, through to youth teams and then on to senior level.
Our senior premier team competes in the Lotto NRFL Premier League. We have enjoyed consistent top four placing over the last 4 seasons. We have recently been awarded a coveted place in the revamped New Zealand National League. Hamilton Wanderers will join the ASB Premiership from the 2016-17 season, as one of three new teams granted two-year licences to compete in New Zealand’s national football league. This will ensure television coverage of our games and an increased awareness of our club as a result.
Seven members of the current WaiBOP United national league side play for Hamilton Wanderers while All Whites Chris Wood, Marco Rojas and Logan Rogerson all developed as youth players with the club.
A meteoric rise has also sent the Wanderers ladies first team to the upper echelons of the sport. The team rocketed from Waikato Division two to Division one then to this season Northern Premier League status on the back of two successive championship wins. They are now also poised to join the National Women’s league in two seasons time.
A training venue for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015, Porritt Stadium will add seating for 500 spectators with FMG Waikato Stadium set to be used for televised night matches.
We also have other senior mens and womens teams in various Waikato leagues from A division to D division. The youth club starts with our under 13 boys and under 14 girls teams and leads up to our under 17 boys. The junior club continues to go from strength to strength. The last few years have seen a growth in numbers and teams competing across all grades.
We encourage participation and support from all. If you wish to become part of the Wanderers story, we would love to hear from you. This website provides you with more information about Hamilton Wanderers and the junior club, but if you have any queries, please contact us with the contact form or via one of our committee members.
